Squiddle Plushie Sewing Tutorial PART 1 by lishlitz Squiddle Plushie Sewing Tutorial PART 1 by lishlitz
I made this tutorial (3 parts and a pattern) to help you make your own Squiddle plushies. I would consider this an Easy to Intermediate sewing project, and can be done completely by hand if you do not have a sewing machine. Please read all instructions before buying, cutting, or sewing anything. If you make more than one, you can have Tangle Buddies by tangling their legs together, NO MAGNETS REQUIRED! Special thanks to my wonderful daughter [link] , for helping me put this tutorial on here :)

Squiddles are from Homestuck, a web-comic written by Andrew Hussie and belong to him. This pattern was created by me and is for personal use only.

Here is the pattern [link]
Part 2 [link]
Part 3 [link]

P.S. Thanks for all the love on me receiving a DD for this.. Wow, I'm speechless!!

I love your patterns and already used the scalemate one to make several Pyralsprites. You're just brilliant, thank you  so much for making and posting all these. (I'm thinking draw-string squiddle bag with this, so I have something to carry around con while cosplaying Jade. Adapting it won't be a problem with this gorgeous tutorial)

Should add some small rare earth magnnets into the bottom of the heads to attract them to each other, and make it easier to keep them tangled together.

Squiddle is a homestuck term. As you can see they are little octopi. :)

Haha... my mate and I were using Squiddle before Homestuck ever existed. Amuses me that a word we've been saying for over a decade turned up in a popular comic. XD

Congrats on the DD! its a cute, simple pattern, but what I love most about these is it explains alot for the early beginner, in a very adept way, so even the more experienced users are reminded why its done that way.

Can you possibly explain what you did after all the body parts were sewn together? Or if I did something wrong? All 4 parts are sewn together, but it's sorta a rectangular prism, not dome shaped in the least.....

I saw on another comment you said it would come to be approximately 6 inches tall, is that the size it comes out to when printing it out on normal sized printer paper?

:iconlishlitz:
lishlitz Featured By Owner Jun 28, 2012  Hobbyist General Artist
the body itself, when sewn and stuffed is approx 4 inches tall.. he sits a little taller because of the legs. the body pattern piece is 4 1/2 inches tall printed out at the correct scale - a full image on an 8 1/2 x 11 inch piece of paper

I know you say it's fine if we give one as a present to a friend, but would you have any problems with me giving out a few at a convention? Not selling them, of course, but scoping out a few people who look like they need a plushie. If you'd rather I didn't, I of course won't, but I thought I should ask first before doing it myself.
