Adventures in horn making!

I am finishing up on a pair of Tavros horns today. I've made horns before (Karkat and Nepeta horns) out of paper clay, but Tav's are much larger, so I had to try something different for these. I went with a foam core that I cut, shaped, and carved. Covered that in paper mache, and now finishing with a thin, smooth layer of paper clay. First one is done.. dry, sanded and ready to paint. I'm finishing the clay on the second one today.

I have to split my time up on plushies and cosplay stuff for a while. I have sooo much cosplay stuff to make!! Goatdad is in the works though! I've done some sketches and figuring out a pattern

And thank you for agreeing to help! I cant find skirts in my size..Its really depressing ;n; We're gonna do another meetup for next month (im planning it this time lol) and my friends are gonna cosplay to it. Since I cant be Dirk, Imma try as Jade. I just need a white skirt for it. Um..How do we do this?

Also yeah..My friend was playing on the playscape and hit her elbow pretty hard. shes really thin so shes like kid size yet taller then me. Its swelling and bruising..Shes also wearing a sling for it. Its either a small fracture or a bad bone bruise. Doctor couldent tell cause yeah, shes kid size. Gonna see in a few weeks how it goes..if bad then shes gonna have to go to a bone doctor. I hope she will be ok =/

jade's skirt looks pretty simple, just long and strait and buttons down the front. it's actually very similar to kanaya's, except kanaya's front is at an angle. it's a simple wrap around type skirt, nothin fancy.. we'll figure it out.

ugh, i hope your friend will be ok, that sounds reeeeaaally painful

tumblr looks kinda fun, but i'm already on this silly comuter too much as it is LOL it's hard enough to keep up with all the correspondance i do on DA, plus i have you guys to do all the blogging and reblogging of my stuff on tumblr hahaha

yea! finally finished the goatdad tutorial this morning. gah i've been so busy lately!!!!!! now back to cosplay stuff for a little while, then i may make crabdad next (mainly cuz I still have tonz of white fabric LOL)

as always, the patterns are trial and error. although, this was like the 10th one i've made and the last several have been pretty much right on, didn't need to do much alterations of the first prototype. i've had lots of practice now hahaha!

ah jeeeesh, that sounds like me and my last trip to cedar point. i was a banged up mess when i got home!!!

I ended up making the smuppet as a gift for my friend, and the scalemate as something for myself. They both turned out very well and the smuppet was extremely appreciated (possibly to a frightening extent, although I'd be hard pressed to name any situation where smuppets aren't frightening). Your directions were clear and easy to follow, despite my being lower than the recommended skill level. The only roadbumps I encountered had only to do with my inexperience and the awkwardness of having to carefully and lovingly sculpt a plush rump in the middle of the school cafeteria. I think I'll be working on Casey next, since I definitely seem to have found myself a new hobby.

omg i love this...

i seriously laughed when i read "having to carefully and lovingly sculpt a plush rump in the middle of the school cafeteria"

projects will go faster and easier the more you do, which is a good thing, cuz now ALL your freinds are going to want an awesome plushie from you hahaha

all my plushies and tutorials are fairly similar, so if you got the general idea of the stitches and such, casey, and anything else you might make, should be smooth sailing
